Out from Poynton on pleasant lanes through Gawsworth and Marton on the way to Audley in Staffordshire. Then through Nantwich and Malpas and into Wales at Bangor-is-y-Coed, for the control at Ruabon before reaching Caffe Wylfa in Chirk.
After a welcome, and welcoming, cafe stop in Chirk, it's a return through Overton, some 'agricultural' lanes near Holly Bush, then Shocklach and Tilston to Bunbury for a control at the excellent Tilly's cafe.
The return to Poynton uses the popular 'Winsford bypass', a short off-road stretch to the River Weaver in Vale Royal.
